I hate cops so much.
I hate cops I hate copaganda and associated media that makes you think it could perhaps be like, a neutral or okay profession when policing and the concept of a "criminal" are fundamental to the incarceration system which is modern enslavement.
they are literally in the profession of putting people in prison??
the vast majority of whom were Driven to crime by the fundamental Injustice of poverty and violence.
and the rest who become modernly enslaved due to anti blackness and racism.
but also like I'M FROM THE YAKUZA?? cops don't do anything to Actually Dangerous People, and most cops are "dirty" in the sense they assist and preserve things like drug/weapon routes and cooperate with gang members regarding what goes public and scapegoats.
cops only know what Actually Dangerous People want them to know, so there's no argument for the quality of their investigation or information systems either.
there's 0 justification for cops.
but? bc of media and copaganda ppl view "fictional" cops and the concept of governmental surveillance and criminal imprisonment as "neutral" if not actively positive.
like the ONLY work of media with cops that is acceptable is media that condemns them to Fucking hell as irredeemable bastards (spits).
and few ppl can pull off a disco elysium.
and even DE left ppl walking away with the sentiment that "cops aren't so bad."

literally just by having "cop characters" that are ANYTHING other than the worst scum who dehumanize and enslave vulnerable populations who "broke the rules (law)" in most cases bc they were Driven to it by poverty or other similar injustices.

there's no such thing as the concept of a good or neutral cop and None of them deserve to be humanized in any way, they are all fucking bigots trying to be executioners.
and to trap and imprison ppl for arbitrary "criminal injustice" read: breaking the rules the white and rich break all the time with no consequences.
in my mind there's No justification at all for having cop characters. you really gotta interrogate the cop in your mind that says it's ok or glamorizes "detective work."
having a cop oc is never justifiable unless you are trying to write smth that exposes the inhumane and dehumanizing practice of modern incarceration, read: enslavement.

let's say you're writing some kind of true crime story about "a serial killer" (weird flex but ok...another day I'll explain why that's Weird to me,, as an ex-hitman)
and your cop is chasing them.
like? what's the goal? and then what, they throw the "murderer" in prison (read: enslaving them to prison labor) and then happy ending?
when like, most cases those "types" of legends or fictions are based on Severely Mentally Ill People or at least people who undergo such extreme trauma they are driven to killing (the #1 societal taboo) in order to feel safe with enough to live.
but also going back to my one talk about how "murder" is a moral condemnation of evil/sinning and "killing" is just the description of a neutral action, like animals kill to survive but animals do not murder.
like as someone who is effectively a retired/inactive yakuza member, "MURDERERS" are created by people UP HERE, IN KATAGI SOCIETY.
killers are ppl like hitmen, who protect the syndicate ecosystems.

and as a hitman I don't really "get" the appeal? of condemning such haunted and pitiful souls.

cops ARE normal, but if you go into it without the angle of normal (standardized systemic desensitized violence) it becomes normal (acceptable and unquestionable)
it's precisely the vicious criticism of what is acceptable by public societal norms (policing and enslavement) that is necessary
when you have cop protagonists which are sympathetic humanized and romantic, even, ie you care about their romantic entanglement and emotions and or u otherwise wish for them to succeed in their aims (capturing and imprisoning people) WITHOUT the intentional element that like the Horror in this story isn't the "murderer," it's The Cops, then it just becomes copaganda humanizing the police and vindicating "the criminal justice system and its operations"
that's why it's never "neutral" to have a cop character.
bc cops are an active violence by default.
