none of them are well or depict themselves as such, ever. their supranatural magical abnormality is a reflection of their innermost corruption and the curse/wish they hold in their heart.
spitfire was almost burned alive by the grandaunt he calls "mother" in the same tone as "mistress" who he still obeys in his heart.

se-bin's name means pure, washed jade. that's what her grandmother wanted for her. but he was a man instead, at least sometimes, noncommittal, and he has a mouth on his stomach and on the palms of her hands, and he can Just Barely hide his abnormality. but not quite; the ravenous, insatiable hunger and teeth-grinding itch for violence, entertainment, and monstrosity consumes him.
